[1 - his origin] David was born in 1958, under the star sign of Aries, in a small caravan in a field in Elgin, Scotland. [2 - his careers] He has served in the merchant navy, been a military officer, an entrepreneur and now a writer. [3 - his education] He has a bachelors degree from Sheffield and a PhD from Lancaster.
[4 - his home life] David lives in the North Riding of Yorkshire, with his wife and young son. [5 - his interests] In his spare time he paints clowns, strums a guitar (with distant memories of having played bass in a rock group), and thinks about sailing large yachts in warm climates.
[6 - his writing influences] David is influenced by experience (his own and others') more than styles, but amongst his favourite authors are Orwell, Huxley, Rushdie, Heller and Tressell [7 - his philosophy] David's PhD and thinking are grounded in the philosophy of aesthetics, in particular the concepts of beauty and sublimity. [8 - his next projects] David is currently working on two new novels, a sequel to River of Judgement and a novel set in the near future,
in 2047, in which the Art World takes centre stage in a dystopian nightmare, as a philosophy professor reaches a breakdown. [9 - David's real name] David Sartof is a nom de plume; David's real name is David Atkinson. [10 - his other writing] Following his PhD, David has written, as Dr David Atkinson, on management philosophy. Notably, he has developed a theory of management practiced as an art form, in a book published by Palgrave Macmillan.
